Daddy cool: James Corden tenderly kisses son Max during a sunny afternoon with partner Julia Carey and friends in Primrose Hill

While most of us struggle with soaring office temperatures during the heatwave, James Corden enjoyed the outdoors with son Max.

The Gavin and Stacey star relaxed with friends and partner Julia Carey in the sunshine on Primrose Hill.

During one tender moment, the comedian held his new tot close to his chest before planting a gentle kiss on his head.

But never one to stay serious for long, Corden threw the youngster into the air before catching him in his arms again.

The six-month-old, who was born on March 22, appears to be shaping up to be a daddy's boy as the two were inseparable during the afternoon.

Despite his former reputation as a party boy and Groucho regular, James says he adores being a father.

He said: 'I love it, I've loved every minute of being a dad.

'There's no one else in the world that can wake me up at five o'clock in the morning and be forgiven with a smile within 30 seconds.

'It's terrific, it's everything people said it would be. Max and Jules made sense of everything that I perhaps lost for a little bit.'

The couple met after Cooper introduced them, however, Corden once had eyes for a certain Lily Allen, as he reveals in his new autobiography.

May I Have Your Attention, Please?, released today, explains how he first met the 'confident, funny and intelligent' singer at the premiere of The History Boys six years ago.

But sadly for him, the newlywed did not reciprocate the feelings.

He wrote: 'I guess we were friends but, for my part, I definitely wanted more than that.'
