Glamour puss in boots: Katherine Heigl's frumpy wet weather look

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Try a bit harder! Katherine Heigl steps out in Los Angeles wearing a giant unflattering poncho and green wellies
The poncho completely swamped her figure, hiding her enviable curves and making her look bigger than she actually is.

She usually manages to look stylish and chic no matter how casual or low-key her outfits are.

But Katherine Heigl stepped out in the mild Los Angeles rain yesterday wearing a giant woolly poncho and green wellington boots.

The 31-year-old pulled her blonde hair back into a bun and wore almost no makeup as she and her mother Nancy visited Louise's Trattoria for lunch.

And the green wellington boots seemed more appropriate for a muddy country walk than a slightly rainy Hollywood afternoon.

The only stylish thing she carried was her snakeskin purse, but even that looked out of place with her comfort-over fashion outfit.

Heigl didn't have little baby Naleigh with her, but she has spoken about how eager she is to have another child with husband Josh Kelley.

When Kelley told MTV that he wanted to have more children with Heigl, she was definitely excited.

'Josh Kelley? He does? Well, great!' she said.

'Why does he tell you guys these things, but when I'm like, "I think we should adopt again," he's like, "I don't know, Katy. We got our hands full." What's that about?

Fresh faced: Katherine opted for an almost makeup-free face as she went to lunch with mother Nancy

'I think he just always needs to play devil's advocate to me. I think that's what it's about. I'm going to have to talk to him about this.'

But it's clear Kelley is very ready to add another member to their family.

He says: 'Yeah we're gonna give [Naleigh] a little buddy here pretty soon. I don't know how soon, but we're talking about it and you never know ... [Katherine's] a phenomenal mom.

'She's a great mom in real life. She's very structured. She keeps her to a strict schedule, and I learned how important that really is 'cause it makes her a happier baby. She's got the instinct.'

Heigl admits that she is a strict parent, and that motherhood has completely changed her.

She says: 'I’m a lot more strict than I thought I would be. I really feel like discipline and manners, a good schedule, a good night sleep and a good nap are really important. I didn’t think I would be quite so like that.'

And the 27 Dresses star has found herself getting much more emotional now she has a daughter.

'It is so gut wrenching in a way that I could have never predicted,' she says.

That's more like it: Katherine looks like a typical Hollywood starlet at the Life As We Know It premiere

'You have this empathy suddenly, this compassion for a mother going through anything complicated or difficult with a child. It’s something that I understand now - that unbelievable drive and instinct to protect.'

And Kelley loved watching his wife play a maternal role in new movie Life As We Know It, which is his favourite of all her films so far.

'I think this is the best movie she's ever made. It's my favorite one,' Kelley said.
'I was like, "Honey, this movie is unreal. You run the gamut of emotions on this one." We're both our biggest critics and I was seriously very, very moved by this one. It's phenomenal.'
