New challenge: Jennifer Aniston is heading behind the camera and is set to direct a short film about breast cancer as part of the Lifetime Project Five anthology series
Jennifer Aniston is taking a break from the hair and make-up chair and is heading behind the camera in a director's role.
The 42-year-old actress is set to direct a short film about breast cancer as as part of the Lifetime Project Five anthology series.
The former Friends star will join Alicia Keys, Demi Moore and Monster and Entourage director Patty Jenkins.
A fifth director will join the team for the five-part series but the name has yet to be announced.
'Our hope with Project Five is to entertain, inform and inspire dialogue, research and prevention. Otherwise, our goals are small', Jennifer told Us Weekly.
She added: 'We want these films to move people and empower those affected by breast cancer to stand tall through this challenge, which impacts all of our lives, no matter who we are.'
Last year Aniston spoke about her desire to move behind the camera.
She said: 'I have a project in development I'm going to direct. After you get enough movies under your belt you sit back and go, "What's next?" It's getting to a time where creatively I want to turn in a different direction.'
Four years ago, Aniston was one of a group of celebrities who took part in Glamour's Reel Moments film series and directed the Robin Wright Penn and Kris Kristofferson short Room 10 about a moody nurse who throws herself into her work to avoid her problems at home.
Aniston has also produced three movies - Management, The Switch and the upcoming The Goree Girls.
